|The 2021 Educational Conference and Banquet Awards dinner taking place on June 26, 2021 at the Central Washington University. The Washington Search and Rescue Conference (WASARCON) runs June 25-27 with pre-conference classes 21-25.
The volunteer organizations that attend this conference rely on grants and donations to stay in operation. The volunteer members supply the vehicles used and the majority of the required personal gear for missions.
Many of the Counties in Washington do not have the funding in the budget for required SAR classes so they heavily rely on this educational opportunity to get more SAR volunteers in the field. In addition to the basic required classes, they also offer more advanced classes in leadership, grant writing, bone Identification, and fundraising just to name a few. Over 50 classes are planned for the weekend alone. There are many law enforcement agencies that participate in the event.
